Dandelions

Good luck getting rid of the Dandelions. They grow everywhere and anywhere, just looking for a crack or pile of dirt to fester in. So as it goes, it is much better to simply ignore the Dandelions and to plant and care for beautiful flowers instead. The Dandelions can't be stopped but you can do well to ignore them, to simply stop caring for the Dandelions. Of course, however, if you can restrict their movement, or stop them from moving into your apartment all together, you would be doing a great service to our community, by allowing more prettier flowers to come in and be in our community. We together can make our society a beautiful place, but everyone needs to do their part and remember that,"Nobody loves the head of a dandelion" (Morrison 47). Dandelions are notorious for their crime and poverty and ugliness. They don't have the same color, nor stem height nor beauty as the rest of us flowers.

Puppy
Morrison describes Pecola's anger like a "hot-mouthed puppy" because of her youth and emerging realizations of the world as it is. On page 50, the author illustrates the state of emotional disarray Pecola is in by having her have a damp hand, trip and fall, and the phrase,"What to do before the tears come" (page 50). But Morrison chooses to show how quickly and easily the anger fades in Pecola and it serves as a contrast of innocence to Mrs.Breedlove who finds meaning in meaningless anger. At the end of the passage, diction leans towards words like "clean", "lovely",
"good" to show the dependency Pecola has on eating Mary Jane.
